How to make the Facebook Fan Page Avatar look more “integrated” with the Facebook Design.
Maximum Dimension: 200 x 600 pixels

The 200 x 600 Profile photo is the largest that Facebook will display an image (any larger than that, and it will automatically resize to that size).
What we want

What we want to achieve, is an image, that looks blended in / integrated with the Facebook Design, so we need to create a 200 x 600 image, and have the first 52 pixels the light blue colour, and the line 1 x Pixel a grey colour, and then our image can be played with. I’m crap at graphics, and have only just bought Photoshop CS4, so still getting used to how to use it, so don’t judge my image, just see the creativeness that you can achieve by blending it into the facebook design. Personally, for a real site – I will send the blank image to a graphics person and let them release their creative juices on it.
Facebook Colours

The first 52 pixels is set at colour #EFF0F5 (light blue) and the grey line is colour #D8DFEA . However Facebook changes this sometimes with their “new looks”. The easiest way to figure out how many pixels, is to do a screencapture of the page or if you use Firefox – install the “MeasureIt” Firefox application – it will allow you to measure anything on the screen.
Firefox “MeasureIt” Application – Profile

By uploading an image to Facebook, you can then click on the “Measure” icon in Firefox and then “Trace from the top of image to the bottom of the line”. So today – the Facebook “light blue” area for Profile images is 52 pixels.
Firefox “MeasureIt” Application – Fan Page

And same with the Fan Page.. 52 Pixels. But sometimes you’ll find that Facebook has changed it slightly and it no longer matches up.
